Lakeside Living Room – Warmth, Luxury & Unobstructed Views

  • Designing this lakeside living room was about finding balance—between nature and modern luxury, between comfort and elegance, and between boldness and subtlety. The property itself is surrounded by rich wood features and opens up to a stunning view of the lake through double glass doors. My approach focused on complementing the home’s natural materials, while enhancing the flow, functionality, and warmth of the space.

  • From the start, I wanted this room to feel like a sanctuary. The existing wood created a beautiful but dominant backdrop, so I leaned into earthy, warm tones like burnt orangegolden oakcream, and saffron, which harmonized with the wood rather than competing with it. These tones helped to soften the structure of the home while delivering the luxury and depth that the client desired.

  • The Eternity Modern Marenco Sofa in saffron became the anchor of the room. Its rich, buttery tone felt inviting and lived-in while offering a statement of elegance. I paired this with a white chaise, strategically placed to allow someone to comfortably view either the lake or the television without obstructing either focal point. This open configuration created a clear pathway from the kitchen to the living room, preserving the flow of the space and encouraging interaction.

  • To enhance the warmth and elevate the ceiling, I installed the IO Lamp – Luxurious Brass Clear Semi-Flush Mount Glass Ceiling Light. Its brass accents picked up beautifully on the tones in the West Elm worn velvet curtains in golden oak, which drape the windows in elegance and frame the lake view without distraction. These curtains, in their muted yet golden richness, added softness and a touch of glamour.

  • I was particularly drawn to the Union Lighting Solar Machine Woven Rug in medium brown, which subtly combined greygold, and cream—perfectly tying together the upholstery, curtains, and natural wood. It also helped to ground the furniture arrangement while offering a soft underfoot experience that encourages comfort.

  • For the walls, I chose an abstract painting from Etsy featuring tones of orange, gold, and a rich green. This single art piece added depth, personality, and vibrancy, while the green introduced contrast that enhanced the natural feeling of the space. The painting echoed the surrounding environment, almost acting as an interior extension of the landscape outside.

  • CCO Interiors cushions were added to the sofa—cream with black fringes and a touch of orange—subtly pulling together all the room’s colors in an effortless way. Finally, the black faux marble coffee table from Wayfair brought in a sense of modern grounding. Its sleek surface contrasted beautifully with the plush textures around it, adding a final note of refinement.

The result;

Is a space that feels intentionalliveable, and immersed in nature. Every choice was made with comfort, view, and harmony in mind—so no matter where you sit, the room invites you to slow down, soak up the lake, and feel at home.Curtains;
